Hookah tobacco is also known as Shisha, is the main ingredient of a hookah. It is what adds flavor to the smoking experience and it’s available in hundreds of different flavors and types. Tobacco for hookahs isn’t expensive, but it can be used quickly when alot of people are smoking the hookah. Shisha can be purchased from many online stores and hookah lounges locally (if you’re lucky enough to have one in your town/city!) and is readily available to anyone who is over the age of 18 (in the US).

Hookah shisha is difficult to track since there are so many different companies and flavors all over the world, common flavors include fruits, mint, and chocolate. But we intend to bring all those flavors together for the ultimate flavor guide, since having all those choices makes it difficult to make a purchase, we recommend you visit a hookah lounge prior to ordering some for yourself.

Although mostly all flavors taste great, there are some that might not appeal to you. Personally, I can’t handle the taste of bubblegum in my hookah. I don’t know why, but it just doesn’t taste good at all.

Some of my personal favorite flavors are detailed below:

Watermelon

Triple apple

Mango

Strawberry

Mint

Rose

and other combinations we’ll talk about later.

With constant hookah usage, your hookah parts are going to experience wear and tear. You may also want to improve the way your hookah pulls the smoke or how it burns the shisha. There are countless hookah accessories available to meet the needs of your hookah, we are going to explain the different types of hookah accessories available today and how each work to improve your hookah smoking experience.

Here are some of the most basic hookah accessories available:

Hookah Foil: These pre-cut pieces of foil facilitate the making of a hookah, you don’t have to guess how big the piece of foil needs to be to cover the bowl anymore!

Hookah Trays: These are the metal trays you see below the bowl and serve as retainers for the ashes of the coals. They also prevent the coals from falling on the ground if the hookah is pushed.

Hookah Tongs: For handling the hot coals, this accessory is crucial for your hookah experience. Otherwise you’re stuck with two forks and that isn’t safe at all.

Hookah Wind Cover: This accessory is perfect if you want to enjoy your hookah outside, it prevents the coals from getting hit by the wind and spilling or burning faster. I use it indoors sometimes if my fan is on high!

Hookah Coal Holder: Once you have a few hookahs served, you’ll need to constantly replace hookah coals. Especially if you run or operate a hookah lounge! This is a very important part of your hookah.

Charcoal Screen: Instead of using foil to make your hookahs, you can use this to make your life easier. These screens go between the bowl and the coals, they act as a perfect replacement for the foil we mentioned above. I ordered three of these!

Hookah Carrying Bags: When you go to a friends house, transporting a tall hookah is difficult. Some hookahs already include a carrying bag, bust most of them do not. I suggest you get one that matches your hookah if you want to transport your hookah safely.

Hookah Base Protectors: If you have an expensive hookah (types of hookahs) you might want to invest in a protector for the base. Especially if your hookah is hand painted! The base is where most of the contact comes from and it can crack when set down hard on the table.

Hookah Decorations: Connecting from the top of the screen, these decorations are incredible. They are long crowns that are surely going to separate your hookah from the rest!

Foil Screen Pincher: When you are using foil to make your hookah, you have to poke holes on the foil so the heat burns the shisha, this pincher does it all for you. It’s a flat plastic piece with many piercing lines to make the holes the foil needs to breathe properly.

Hookah Mouth Tips: If you don’t like to share someone’s saliva, I recommend you get a pack of these. They help with keeping your hookah hose clean and free or germs from other people. Especially a good idea if they are sick!

Finding wholesale hookah companies online isn’t very hard, there are several reputable companies that specialize in making and bringing hookahs to retailers. Some of the biggest hookah sellers online have a wholesale program that you can access through a simple application process. Depending on where you like, they might require you to have a registered company or corporation.

We have applied to become a retailer for several hookah manufacturers and the only thing we needed is an EIN, or a tax ID number for corporations. The US government uses these numbers to track the amount of money the company makes and charge taxes accordingly.

Like mentioned above, hookah wholesalers are all over the world. There are two types of wholesalers that currently operate:

Manufacturers: Hookah manufacturers are the ones that actually make the hookahs in their factories with raw materials and sell them in bulk to registered retailers or wholesalers/importers/exporters around the world. These companies have no store front for small stores or consumers to buy from, they rely on wholesalers/retailers and exporters to buy their product and re-sell it at a profit. They usually require a large down payment to start production and a line of credit from a bank to continue the work. Hookah manufacturers are responsible for keeping quality in the hookah as high as possible, while maintaining costs as low as possible so retailers can sell them. The ideal thing would be to deal with the hookah manufacturer directly and avoid high costs. You’d make the most money if you were able to deal with the hookah manufacturer directly.

Importers/Exporters: Companies that import or export hookahs to other countries from manufacturers are the guys you would want to deal with if you don’t have much capital to buy alot of inventory. Hookah importers bring hookahs from the Middle East into America and re-sell them for a small profit, they want to sell alot of hookahs for a little bit of profit. Exporters take hookahs outside of the country they were manufactured in and sell them somewhere else. Once you find an importer of hookahs, you’ll want to start their process of verification. They usually are hard to trust and I recommend you deal with an established importer that has previous happy clients.

Finding a company to supply you with wholesale hookahs to start a business isn’t hard, but you need to make sure the wholesaler is reputable and has quality product. Otherwise you could have a shipment of hookahs that is damaged and cannot be sold to the consumer, ruining any opportunity to profit.

The higher quality your shipment is, the more profit you will make in the end. Just remember to ask for references and check them out throughly. Wholesale hookahs are not hard to come by and are a great business to be in!

If you need help finding wholesale hookahs, use our contact form or comment! We have a great relationship with a few wholesalers who have a track record of delivering great product.

Hookah Hoses are one of the most important aspects of the hookah smoking experience, it’s the piece that comes in contact with the user, therefore it needs to be of quality material. In this post we chose to dig deep into all the different types of hoses, which work best for your needs, and the science behind the making of a hookah hose.

The main purpose of the hookah hose is to increase the amount of time the smoke takes to get to you, mainly so the smoke is cool enough to taste the flavor of the shisha. And of course it allows the hookah to be smoked from afar, it would be a bit difficult to try to smoke the shisha directly from the base, wouldn’t it?

Hookah hoses come in many different styles, materials, and quality. Mainly made from soft leather, the hookah hose is designed to be durable and comfortable to the touch. Being the part that comes in contact with the most hands it needs to be strong, yet enjoyable. Alot of the hookah lounges in the US have moved to the plastic hoses which are washable and inexpensive, although I prefer the traditional leather made hose.

Cost isn’t a huge factor with hoses because they don’t require much labor or material, the most expensive hose I’ve ever touched was made with leather, wood, and porcelain. I think the owner said it was less than $40US, which isn’t bad at all for the quality of the hose and how great it looked. On average a hookah hose will probably cost you between $10 and $20, although most hoses can go as low as $5.

Most people don’t put much thought into their hose though, I’ve settled many times for the hose that came along a hookah. The only reason why you would consider upgrading or buying a new hose is if the previous hose was damaged or worn down. Unless you want to slowly build your own custom hookah, a nice hose is probably the second or third thing you would buy. First being the base and bowl as the secondary priority.

When it comes to sizes, hookahs are measured by gauge. The larger the gauge (or width), the better the flow you’ll get when pulling on the hookah. I wasn’t able to find the average gauge of a hose anywhere, but I usually measure it by wrapping my finger around the hose. When you’re around hookahs all the time, you’ll grow accustomed to the regular sized hose.

When it comes to the hose tips, the traditional hoses come with wooden tips. Alot of people prefer them because they are comfortable on the lips when compared plastic, but wood deteriorates with time and the absorb saliva once the protective coat wears down. I personally prefer plastic tips because they can usually be replaced easily, which means I don’t have to buy a new hose every time my tips wears down or breaks.

Regular hookah hoses are about 68″ long and can go as long as 77″ to 82″ from tip to tip. I use the average 68″ hose at home and the longer ones when I entertain because it makes it easier to share to more people who are sitting around the hookah.

The most important thing to remember about hookah hoses is that they transport the smoke to you, using a cheap or plastic hose will most likely ruin the taste of the shisha and kill the great experience of smoking hookah all together.

Post your comments below! This should be an interesting topic of conversation.

If you read our post on the different types of hookahs available today, you’ll soon realize how daunting it can be to choose the perfect hookah for your needs. After a few years of being in the hookah business, we have come to the conclusion that you need three different hookahs per home. That is, unless you only want to smoke alone, but we know hookahs are social tools that have helped our ancestors connect and make business.

Why three different types of hookahs, you ask? Well there are so many different circumstances where the proper hookah needs to be used that we couldn’t just pick one kind of hookah. For example, if we wanted to entertain a small group of friends (maybe 5 to 10) we would need to have a large 32″ hookah with three or more hoses. Especially if those friends all want to smoke, we’d need lots of shisha (tobacco) and lots of coles readily available.

When you feel like you’ve had a long day at work and you want to relax alone, you need to own a small hookah, maybe a 12″ single hosed hookah will suffice. This will allow you to minimize the consumption of shisha and coles when you are alone because if you used the tall hookah for yourself, you’d spend alot of time setting it up. Not to mention the process of re-filling the hookah and setting it up is much longer than with a smaller hookah.

The third type of hookah we thought as necessary is the premium kind, one that is flashy and extravagant. Why? We all like showing off our gold, hookahs are similar to cars and shoes, you need to have one with unique materials and detail. Although this might be more expensive than it sounds, but premium hookahs are worth the money. Especially if you have a girl you want to impress at home, or you want to bring over the hookah to a friend’s house to make it stand out from the others.

Hookah lounges rarely give you the choice of the type of hookah you want, unless you come with a large party, which will result in you getting a very large hookah with many hoses. For that reason, I often bring my own hookah to the lounge. Owners don’t mind it since they’ll reduce the amount of hookahs they need to use of their own and all they have to do is make the bowl and provide the coals.

If you can think of other reasons why you’d need other types of hookahs and why, please post it in the comments below. If anyone can think of other reasons why you own the perfect hookah please post your comments!

Hookahs are made all over the world, there are a wide variety of styles and brands to choose from, all of which we will cover in this post! Hookah is one of the most popular smoking activities in the middle east and it has begun to spread in North America as it becomes a more acceptable form of entertainment for younger adults.

We will begin by covering the types of hookahs sold to the public regardless of location, if we have made a mistake please don’t hesitate to comment below!

Egyptian Hookahs

Nearly four centuries ago, Egypt witnessed the beginning of the hookah. Although it is referred to as shisha in Egypt and their neighboring country of Morocco, the Egyptians have manufactured their hookahs from brass and sometimes brass with a chrome coating to add style and flare. It all beggins with a simple brass or copper tube that is attached to the hose stem and the rest of the parts that make the hookah by welding it all together. When shopping around, you’ll find these hookahs to be the most readily available and plentiful due to their reliability and large amount of fan base. They are best known due to their durability and sturdiness over the years of usage, if you buy one, don’t be surprised to have it for many many years.

Some say the best hookahs available today.

Made mostly from brass and occasionally brass and chrome.

The pull (for smoke) is great and almost effortless.

Smooth stem shape and style.

The glass base is of high quality.

Well known Egyptian type hookahs are Magdy Zidan and Khalil Mamoon.

Syrian Hookahs

Usually crafted by hand and with much more detailed paintings on the glass than any other kind of hookah, the Syrian made hookahs are highly coveted. Some users have described Syrian hookahs as dramatic and explicitly designed to catch your eye. They are also mostly made out of brass, which means a long history of great durability and reliability from users of many years. These hookahs are considered the top of the line by many people who have seen them in person, a picture will simply not describe them.

The Egyptian’s main hookah rival.

Made mostly from brass.

The pull (for smoke) is usually as good as the Egyptians.

The stem is shorter so you have to pour more water in the base.

They tend to be heavier and more durable as they are made from brass.

Well known Syrian type hookahs are Nour and Al Fakher.

Chinese Hookahs

These are by far, the most affordable hookahs on the market today. Their productions costs and quality are much lower than the previous two kinds of hookahs mentioned above. The chinese made hookah is much more simple in design and less reliable with time and usage. We have only tried a few chinese made hookahs and the pull is usually a little more difficult than other types. Chinese use less reliable building materials like aluminum and acrylic to cut costs, thus cutting quality. Although we have also used Mya Saray and experienced a good amount of value for their low price.

Mostly made out of aluminum and acrylic materials.

They are lighter and not as durable as Egyptian and Syrian hookahs.

Their main advantage is their cheap price.

While they are cheap, they are often well worth the price and smoke well.

The most well known Chinese type hookah is Mya Saray.

Turkish Hookahs

These hookahs are sometimes hard to find outside of the Middle East where they are manufactured. Due to their similarity to the Syrian made hookahs, the Turks don’t have a big demand for their products. Nonetheless, the quality of these hookahs is also very high and coveted by those who are aware of the high detail manufacturers put into making the glass vases. Usually hand painted and designed by people who have grown up with hookahs, Turkish hookahs are rare and high quality.

Not often exported to outside Middle East.

Tend to have the same look and feel of Syrian hookahs.

Made of porcelain and other high quality materials.

Iranian Hookahs

These premium hookahs are also rarely seen outside of the Middle East, mostly due to their exclusivity. Makers in Iran use exclusive materials like wood and porcelain to manufacture these hookahs, making them expensive and hard to find. I have never had the chance to use one of these hookahs, but from what I have read online, they are smooth and have good durability.

Small Hookahs

Hookahs measuring between 11″ and 18″ are considered junior hookahs or small hookahs. Most of which are made in China and are the most widely used by lounges and bars around North America due to their low price and simple setup instructions. Small hookahs are usually the best sellers, they carry low quality hoses and I recommend you purchase a high quality leather hose to go along with your small hookah purchase.

A common misconception about small hookahs is that they consume less shisha (tobacco) and are hard to pull, both of which are not true. All hookahs (most of them, at least) have a standard porcelain bowl where the shisha is inserted and smoked with coles. Their small size makes it easy for new users to get used to the pulling and quality of the smoke. I recommend novice users to buy a small hookah and upgrade after 6 or 8 months after they have grown accustomed to the small hookahs.

Large Hookahs

Usually measuring above 18″ and averaging about 24″ in height, a large hookah usually delivers alot more spoke per pull. Some of the biggest hookahs go up to 32″ in height and are recommended for users who have been smoking hookah for a long time. Large hookahs are also great for people who host parties and like to make an impression on people who have never seen a hookah in person. Large hookahs have the ability to deliver alot more smoke to more than one person, in comparison to a small hookah, the large hookahs consume shisha at a faster rate due to the fact that you can have more than one hose attached to the base if properly upgraded.

Premium Hookahs

These types of hookahs translate into higher prices, varied sizes and very good quality/durability. High quality hookah manufacturers pay very close attention to detail and the materials used to construct them. I have seen many different kinds of hookahs, mostly include marble, porcelain, and high quality glass on the vases. Anything from all metal, to all marble, to all wooden hookahs can be qualified as premium hookahs. As time goes by and we will be launching our own specialty store carrying premium hookahs exclusively. Check Premium Hookahs dot com regularly!

Traditional Hookahs

These hookahs are simple and to the point, they are called traditional for a reason! There is nothing fancy about them, for the most part. Manufacturers specializing in traditional hookahs usually have the original materials used to make them in the old times. They can be very simple and very elaborate!

One, Two, Three, Four Hoses?

Yes! Many of the original hookahs were made with two hoses so people could share them while enjoying a nice cup of tea. Now a days, manufacturers have the ability to mold and shape metals with more ease, which allows them to add on more users to the hookah. This also means that the shisha and cole being used by the hookah will need replacement much quicker. Using a hookah with four hoses cuts the cole time by five times, as well as shisha will only last about half an hour instead of two.

Comment below and share your experiences with all the types of hookahs available today.
